The First Prophetic Word of the Messiah

Gen. 3:14-15

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

As I read this passage, my heart leaps for joy within me! It is here that we have the first prophetic word of the coming Messiah which shall save His people from their sins! Amazing as it may seem, though, this is not God’s first thought of redeeming grace, as the scriptures clearly proclaim that even before the foundation of the world, the Lamb was slain (Rev 13:8, Heb 4:3)!

It should thrill us all that our sins did not catch God by surprise, nor deter His love for us! Calvary was not a mere “plan B” should things go bad. No, my friend, Calvary was the one and only plan, so that, not IF, but WHEN we sin, we can be redeemed and restored back into full fellowship with our Creator God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, made possible by His shed blood on our behalf!

Today I say, “Thanks to Calvary!”

Rev 13:8  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Heb 4:3  For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
