Embracing God's Unseen Plans: The Story of Joseph in Egypt

Genesis 39:1  And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

In this verse we read, “And Joseph was brought down to Egypt;” What a confusing and heartbreaking turn of events this young man had to endure. However, what Joseph did not realize was that God had a plan! God’s plan was to teach Joseph that no matter what, no matter where, and no matter whom, HE was still in control. Within God’s master plan He needed to get Joseph to move to Egypt because a famine was on the way. He would use Joseph to ensure both protection and provisions for Israel. You see, there are times in our lives that God works in ways that we often dislike or would not choose in order to get us where we need to be, both to be blessed by Him, and for our lives to bless others. How many young mothers have wept at the loss of a child only to find that the Heavenly Father will hold her and rock her as she weeps?  That same young mother that found God to be faithful grows into a grandmother that prays over her family, and is often the same one that feeds and spiritually nourishes those precious grandchildren. In no way would I ever make light of tragedy, but many saints carry this testimony; had God not allowed their lives to shatter into a thousand pieces, they would have never turned to Him. Romans 8:28 teaches us that, “…all things work together for good to them that love God…” This question then arises; what is God doing in your life today? You may not understand it, like it, or even notice it, but know this, God IS working!
